Jamshedpur: Three jawans of the
CRPF were injured in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast under Tonto police station limits in West Singhbhum on Thursday.
“The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday in west Sarjambura forest area when security forces were conducting search operation. One of the IEDs planted in the forest blast, injuring three jawans of the CRPF 60 Battalion,” said West Singhbhum superintendent of police (SP) Ashutosh Shekhar.
The injured jawans — Nagamhring Anal,
Pankaj Yadav, and Rakesh Pathak — all in their early thirties, have been airlifted to Ranchi-based Medica hospital for treatment, following the first aid done at the camp in Chaibasa. “The splinters of the IED caused injury to the jawans. They are out of danger,” the SP added.
The IED blast struck the security forces four days after five rebels were held and sophisticated weapons besides 10 live IEDs were seized. Three CPI (Maoist) members were apprehended from Tonto police station limits on January 27 and two PLFI members were nabbed from Goilkera police station limits the next day.
In the past 20 days, 14 security personnel have been hurt in five bomb explosion incidents during the search-and-combing operation across the Tonto and Goilkera police station limits. The SP has reiterated that the operation against the rebels will continue.
