Teenager drowns in abandoned stone quarry in Hazaribag
Hazaribag: A 13-year-old boy drowned in a water-filled abandoned stone quarry near Mahabar Hill at Pachrukhi Tilaiya village under Barkattha police station limits on Thursday afternoon. The deceased was identified as Saurabh Kumar, a resident of Badahi village.Locals said Saurabh went to the closed quarry with a group of friends around 3 pm to take a bath when he accidentally slipped into deep water and drowned. His friends alerted family members, following which police and local residents rushed to the spot and launched efforts to retrieve the body.

Pankaj Kumar Sinduria, the officer-in-charge of Barkattha police station, said the body was not recovered even though a search operation was underway.Saurabh was the only child of his parents. His father, a migrant labourer in Gujarat, left home for work about 15 days ago.
