Teaching and non-teaching employees of various postgraduate (PG) departments and 29 constituent colleges, including Koshi College, Mahila Mahavidyalaya, KDS College and KMD College under the Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University, are aggrieved over the non-payment of their salary since March this year. TMBU Teachers' Association secretary Abdool Salam Ansary said, "Ramzan and Id-ul-Fitr are round the corner, but the rise in prices of essential commodities has dampened the festive mood." Members of the TMBU teachers' body, including president Mihir Kumar Mishra, general secretary Anand Kumar and the non-teaching employees, have demanded immediate payment of salary and pension.
Police team formed: Bagaha SP Anand Kumar Singh on Wednesday said a police team, comprising Semara police station SHO Vinay Mishra and Bhairoganj SHO Lalbabu Prasad and led by Ramnagar SDPO Manish Kumar, had been formed to arrest the criminals who attacked and looted a TV channel reporter on Tuesday. A murderous attempt was made on Nagendar Narain Kushwaha while he was returning home from Bagaha. The assailants also took away his belongings, including a camera worth 14,600.
Life term awarded: One of the 13 named accused in a case of triple murder, Guddu Yadav, was awarded life term by a Munger court on Tuesday. Additional district and sessions judge (ADJ)-V Jyoti Swaroop Srivatava after hearing the prosecution and the defence lawyers sentenced Guddu Yadav (35), son of IndradeoYadav, resident of Taufir village under Munger Mufassil police station to life term rigorous imprisonment (RI). The court also slapped a fine of Rs 1 lakh. The court had convicted Guddu after finding him guilty of the offences under various sections of IPC.
Rs2.25L stolen: Some unknown miscreants stole Rs 2.25 lakh by breaking open a bike's utility box at Belsand subdivisional town in Sitamarhi district on Tuesday. One Raghvendra Tiwari and his aunt Raj Dulari Devi, residents of Belsand, withdrew money from the State Bank of India, parked the bike near a shop and went away to buy something.
Five held: Police arrested five persons wanted in several cases from different localities of Aurangabad district in 24 hours. The Amba police arrested two persons for carrying liquor bottles packed in an attractive gift box. In another incident, the Town police arrested three persons for their alleged involvement in unlawful activities.
Minister visits embankment: State water resources minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh on Wednesday visited vulnerable points of Pipara-Piparasi right Gandak protection embankment under Bhitaha block and Gautam Buddha setu on the Gandak river and gave necessary directions. He also asked the engineers engaged in maintenance work to complete the work within stipulated period. The minister also inspected Bagaha town protection embankment.
