LOHARDAGA: Symbols were allotted to all 14 candidates contesting from Lohardaga (ST) Assembly constituency. Five candidates are from recognized national and state parties, six are from other parties and three are Independents.
Abhay Kujur of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha was allotted the Bow & Arrow, Jatan Bhagat of Rashtriya Janata Dal the hurricane, Balmukund Lohra of Bahujan Samaj Party the elephant, Sadhanu Bhagat of Bhartiya Janata Party the lotus, Sukhdeo Bhagat of Indian National Congress the hand, Ashamani Devi of Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) the flag with three stars, Kamal Kishore Bhagat of All Jharkhand Students' Union the banana, Vijay Laxmi Khalkho of Loktantrik Samta Party the railway engine, Sukhdeo Lohra of Bhartiya Rashtravadi Samta Party the maize, Sura Oraon of Rashtriya Deshaj Party the scissors and Somnath Lakra of Jharkhand Party the nagara.
Three Independents, Ekus Dhan, Jai Prakash Bhagat and Pawan Ekka, were allotted the carrot, almirah and cup-saucer respectively.
"Altogether 16 candidates had filed for nomination. Independent Subodh Bhagat's paper was cancelled after scrutiny while Vinod Panna of Jharkhand Janadhikar Manch had withdrawn his nomination," said SDO-cum-returning officer Jagat Narayan Prasad, adding that the administration was gearing up for free and fare elections scheduled in the fourth phase on December 12.
Lohardaga district is to conduct elections in 267 polling stations of Lohardaga Assembly constituency and 91 polling stations of the Bishunpur Assembly constituency.
