Spurious liquor factory busted in Dhanbad

Dhanbad: The excise department on Tuesday unearthed an illegal liquor manufacturing mini factory during a raid at Jeetpur Basti under Maniyadih police station. The operation led to the seizure of a huge quantity of raw material and illicit liquor.

During the raid, the excise team recovered around 1,200 litres of spirit and 175 litres of illegal foreign liquor of various brands. In addition, a large number of empty bottles, stickers, corks and other packaging materials used for bottling spurious liquor were also seized from the premises. The raid was carried out with the support of the Giridih Excise Department.

District excise inspector Kumar Satyendra said the market value of the seized liquor and materials is estimated to be around Rs 8 lakh. He informed that the illegal operation was being run by Dablu Mandal in collusion with the house owner, Tikaram. An FIR has been lodged against both accused, and legal proceedings are being initiated as per law.

The excise inspector further stated that Dablu Mandal had earlier also been booked in cases related to illegal liquor manufacturing. Preliminary investigation suggests that the illicit liquor was being supplied to nearby hotels and possibly smuggled into Bihar as well. The department has intensified surveillance to curb such activities in the region.
