Ranchi: The special PMLA court on Monday extended the enforcement directorate’s (ED) custody of suspended
IAS officer Pooja Singhal and her husband’s chartered accountant,
Suman Kumar, for four more days even as the central agency expanded the scope of its investigation to include mining “scams” and summoned four district mining officers (DMO).
Around 4 pm, the ED produced Singhal and Kumar, who were arrested in connection with the multi-crore
MGNREGA scam, before judge Prabhat Kumar Sharma’s residential court and pleaded for the extension of Singhal’s custody by nine days and that Kumar by five more days.
However, the court granted four days for both the accused.
ED’s lawyer BMP Singh, said, “The custody of both the accused persons has been extended by four days. There are many grounds on which we have sought the extension. Many facts have surfaced during the interrogation so far and we need to unearth many more.”
He also said a lot of information has been obtained from the seized digital devices.
