Simdega Police Seizes Over Rs 1 Crore Worth of Smuggled IMFL Liquor Bottles

Gumla: Simdega police seized various IMFL liquor bottles, which were valued at over Rs 1 crore, while they were being smuggled in a contained from Punjab to Patna in Bihar, the police said on Friday. The consignment was being smuggled via Rourkela (Odisha) - Simdega-Ranchi route, the cops claimed.

Simdega SP M Arshi said 1,115 cartons, containing 40,052 bottles of premium and other qualities of liquor, were seized near the police camp in Biru on the Ranchi-Rourkela highway. The driver of the truck, identified as Jinder Singh (50), a native of Moga district in Punjab, was arrested while the co-driver managed to flee.

During questioning, the driver failed to show any valid papers and produced a fake challan, the SP added.
