Saraswati Puja celebrated with devotion across Ranchi
Ranchi: Saraswati Puja was celebrated with great devotion and traditional fervour across the city on Friday, which is also observed as Basant Panchami. Educational institutes, housing societies, and local committees organised prayers and cultural programmes to mark the puja dedicated to Goddess Saraswati, the deity of knowledge, wisdom, and learning.
At Vikas Vidyalaya, the celebration was held on the school campus with enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, and staff members. The idol of Maa Saraswati at the school was decorated by students while the hawan and puja were conducted by the school priest, invoking blessings for wisdom, learning, and academic excellence. Special prayers were offered for the well-being and holistic development of students, followed by the distribution of prasad.
Delhi Public School Ranchi also observed Saraswati Puja with spiritual fervour. The ceremony was led by principal Jaya Chauhan in the presence of headmasters, teachers, staff, and students. Chauhan said, “True education nurtured not only intellect but also values, discipline, and humility.”
At Sarala Birla University, Saraswati Puja was observed with traditional elegance on the amphitheatre campus. University officials, faculty members, staff, and students participated in the rituals, followed by the distribution of prasad. Director general Gopal Pathak said education must be guided by strong moral values along with knowledge.
At the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (Rims), a 16-foot-tall idol of Maa Saraswati was installed at an estimated cost of Rs 1.10 lakh. The idol is based on the themes of ‘Dwapar Yug’ and ‘Kali Yug’, depicting Lord Krishna on one side and Lord Jagannath, along with Balabhadra and Subhadra, on the other, symbolising knowledge, devotion, and cultural harmony.
A grand pandal inspired by the Konark Sun Temple, measuring about 45 feet in height and 35 feet in width, was also constructed at a cost of around Rs 5 lakh. The puja was organised by Rims students of the 2022 batch.
