DUMKA: Jharkhand chief minister
Arjun Munda on Thursday said the Santhal Pargana region comprising six of the 24 districts in the state would be developed into an "economic corridor". "Our aim is to develop Santhal Pargana into an economic corridor and the Centre should demarcate Dumri-Degoarh via
Dumka to Rampurhaat road as NH and develop it accordingly," Munda said while laying the foundation stone of a road project along with JMM president Shibu Soren in the district.
The ongoing road work between Gobindpur to Sahebganj would also become a lifeline for economic activity in the Santhal Pargana comprising Deogarh, Dumka, Jamtara, Sahebganj, Pakur and Godda districts, he added. Munda said electrification of villages had been given to Damodar Valley Corporation and National Thermal Power Corporation but complaints were received against installation of alleged low power transformers.
