Ranchi: Minister of state for defence Sanjay Seth launched the GST Bachat Utsav in Ranchi on Monday and urged the people to buy only indigenous products and support local businesses.
Seth interacted with the local businessmen during the programme, which was held at Chutia, where he greeted them with flowers and appealed to the public to celebrate Navratri by strengthening the domestic economy.
Speaking to traders, Seth said the recent GST reforms announced by the Centre had eased the burden on consumers. “On the occasion of Navratri, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given a major gift to the nation. Prices of essential goods have been reduced through GST reforms, and the entire country is celebrating this as a savings festival,” he said.

I appeal to everyone to adopt Swadeshi in purchase and sale so that our economy grows stronger,” he said.
‘Adopt Swadeshi’ stickers were put up at several shops. Traders and residents said the gesture was encouraging. Rajesh Kumar, a shopkeeper in Chutia, said, “If customers see that prices are low and also feel they are supporting Indian goods, it will benefit us and them equally.”
