RANCHI: Director of Sanjeevani Buildicon construction company Anamika Nandi was forwarded to jail on Monday at the end of her three-day police custody. Anamika, who along with her husband and director-cum-developer of the company J D Nandi, is accused of cheating over 100 hopeful flat buyers of crores of rupees, has told police that her husband will surrender soon.
On June 25, her husband had called
Anamika to meet him in Kathmandu. "During the meeting he asked me to surrender and also said he too would surrender," Anamika has told police. Anamika had surrendered in the court of first class judicial magistrate Shekhar Kumar on Tuesday. She came to Mumbai from Nepal where she stayed at a hotel for a week and finally hired an SUV to come to Ranchi.
Anamika, who was interrogated by several CID sleuths and Ranchi SSP Saket Kumar Singh, has also told police that associates of the company Shyam Kishore Gupta and P P Lala, who are also accused of forgery, used to play pivotal roles in the scam.
She told the investigators that although most of the projects were registered in her name, she was not involved in its affair after the registration process was over.
About foreign investments, however, she did not utter anything more than "No, I have no idea." CID inspector Arvind Kumar Sinha said Anamika replied in the negative when she was asked about the whereabouts of Gupta and Lala.
Police attached the house of Anamika on May 14 after the court declared her and her husband absconding. Along with the couple eight persons are the main accused in the case. The other accused are their associates Gupta, Lala, Arvind Singh alias Pappu, Ram Prasad Verma, Abdul Baham and Shamim Khan.
