Ranchi RPF wins SER security shield

Ranchi: The Ranchi railway division’s Railway Protection Force (RPF) has won the prestigious zonal security shield for 2025 for its vigilance, crime control and passenger safety under the South Eastern Railway (SER) zone, it said in a statement on Saturday. The award was given for its performance in the 2025 calendar year, officials said.

RPF divisional security commissioner Pawan Kumar will receive the shield at a function at the SER headquarters in Kolkata on Feb 17.


Kumar stated, "The RPF Ranchi is winning this award after several years. Seizures under the NDPS Act, rescue of large number of children and saving trafficked persons are among the remarkable achievements. "

A RPF source said the force has nabbed 47 criminals for stealing railway properties, 14 middlemen for selling tickets illegally, 21 persons in connection with passengers related crimes including theft and 4,339 persons for crime against women. That apart, it also rescued 272 children from various railway stations.The force also seized 2,200 bottles of liquor, arrested 39 criminals with 530 kilograms of cocaine. Three men were held for trying to drug passengers. That apart, the force identified 45,000 unauthorised travellers and collected fines totalling Rs 3.04 crore from them.
