Ranchi police apprehended four individuals transporting a large consignment of prohibited meat from the Lower Bazar area. Acting on a tip-off, authorities intercepted the illegal shipment destined for various districts within Jharkhand and beyond. Investigations are underway to dismantle the entire network involved in this illicit trade, following a similar bust in September.

Ranchi: Ranchi police detained four persons on Wednesday for transporting prohibited meat, from the Lower Bazar police station area.“Police received information on Wednesday that a consignment of banned meat was being transported in large quantities from Lower Bazaar area to other districts in Jharkhand and other states. Acting on the tip-off, a police team conducted an immediate raid and caught the meat on the spot. The detainees are being interrogated,” said a police source. Following the seizure, police have launched efforts to identify and arrest those involved in the illegal trade. Authorities said they are investigating the matter to uncover the entire network behind this operation.In September, police arrested four members of an inter-state gang with prohibited meat in Kharsidaag police station limits, while ferrying the meat from Bihar to Kolkata via Jharkhand. They were arrested under the provisions of the Jharkhand Bovine Animal Prohibition of Slaughter Act.
