Ranchi Police Arrest Man for Murdering Neighbor and Burning His Body

Ranchi: Police arrested a person allegedly for murdering a man and setting the body ablaze. The half-charred body was recovered early on Friday, and the arrest was made on Saturday, SP Paras Rana said on Sunday. Another suspect involved in the incident has been absconding, the SP said.The victim, identified as Prashant Kumar (32), was recovered on Friday under the Ranchi Airport police station limits, around 6 km from his residence at Patel Nagar in Hatia. He was allegedly attacked with a big rock, which resulted in his death, Rana said.Addressing the media on Sunday, the SP said the accused, identified as Rahul Rai, killed Prashant to take revenge for a past incident.“The accused said his brother was found dead near the Dhurwa Dam in 2019, and he suspected Prashant of committing the crime. He confessed that he killed Prashant to take revenge for the killing of his brother. Rahul also said his deceased brother and Prashant were friends,” Rana said.The accused and the victim are neighbours, and they were from the Patel Nagar area in Hatia. The accused set the body ablaze to erase the evidence, the SP added.
