Ramgarh Engg College student beaten up for lodging ragging plaint against seniors
Ramgarh: A first-year student of the BTech course with the Ramgarh Engineering College (REC) was allegedly beaten up by six second-year students after he lodged an online complaint of ragging against them, police said on Sunday.Informing about the incident, SP Ajay Kumar said, "An FIR has been registered with the Rajrappa police station against some senior students of the engineering college under relevant sections of the BNS, following a written complaint filed by the victim (student). An investigation has been launched into the matter. The students are being interrogated, but no arrests have been made so far. The college management has been asked to take steps to stop incidents of alleged ragging on the campus."The anti-ragging cell of the college, located at Murubanda village, held a meeting to stop ragging in the college campus after the authorities received an email from the National Anti-Ragging Helpline. The college management would take action against the accused senior students, college officials said. The vice-principal of the college, Nazmul Islam, said, "The first-year B Tech (computer science) student on Saturday complained to the National Anti-Ragging Helpline. When the second-year students came to know about the complaint, they allegedly beat up the complainant. He was admitted to the Ramgarh sadar hospital."Police sources said the student's family members arrived from Bokaro and took him home after he was discharged from the hospital on Sunday.
