Railway guard dies in Koderma after train hit while crossing tracks
New Delhi, March 24 (IANS) The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has taken suo motu cognisance of a media report regarding the death of three sanitation workers in Chhattisgarh’s Raipur district while cleaning a septic tank at a private hospital.
Koderma: A railway guard died after being hit by a goods train at Hirodih station on the Dhanbad-Koderma railway section on Tuesday. Manoj Kumar, 51, a senior train manager (a post formerly known as guard), was crossing the railway tracks to get to his assigned train when he was hit by the goods train. A resident of Gaya district in Bihar, Kumar lived with his family on Gandhi School Road under Tilaiya police station limits.Kumar had arrived at Hirodih station from Koderma and was preparing to pilot a coal-laden rake to the Banajhedih power plant in Jainagar block of the district. Standard safety protocols required him to collect a caution order from the station’s office before the train could depart. Kumar was crossing the tracks to reach the train assigned to him when a goods train passing through the loop line hit him.Kumar was taken to Koderma on board the train which hit him. However, doctors at the railway hospital declared him brought dead. Upendra Kumar, OC of GRP station in Koderma, said a case of unnatural death was registered and a probe initiated.
