Rahul’s yatra won’t impact state electoral politics: Babulal

Daltonganj: BJP state president Babulal Marandi on Friday termed Rahul Gandhi’s upcoming ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ his “health walk”. The yatra, which will begin on January 14 from Imphal in Manipur, will traverse through 13 districts of Jharkhand ahead of the Lok Sabha election scheduled later this year. Talking to reporters here, Marandi said, “Gandhi undertakes such journeys to keep himself and his party somewhat fit.”
Marandi, the first CM of Jharkhand, also claimed that Gandhi’s first edition of the yatra did little to improve Congress’s prospects as it suffered defeats in the Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh assembly elections. The yatra had passed through all the three states in 2022 and 2023. “Gandhi is a bechara. The country has refused to listen to him. He coined phrases like Chowkidar Chor Hai which fell flat on him,” Marandi claimed.
The BJP leader further said, “He also raised issues like Pegasus, Rafale deal and the Hindenburg-Adani case but failed to get support for himself or his party.”
