RANCHI: Members of the Ranchi Parents' Association have threatened to move court against the private schools here for not admitting their own students in Class XI.
Secretary of the association Ajay Rai said, "After receiving several complaints from parents about schools not admitting their own students to Class XI because of not faring too well in the board examination, they decided to move to the court.

I have received many complaints against prominent schools of the city that are harassing their students."
A delegation of eight persons representing the association submitted a memorandum to governor Syed Ahmed on May 27. "We met the governor and put forth the grievances of the parents. He has assured us of taking appropriate steps but nothing has been done so far," he added.
"If the schools do not come forward to admit these students, we will move to court for initiating action against them as this amounts to violation of the orders of the Supreme Court," he said.
According to a judgement of the Supreme Court in 2008, any higher secondary school in the state cannot treat admission of its own students to Class XI as fresh admission. As per the orders, there shall be no admission test or cut-off marks or re-admission system in schools for Class X students seeking admission to Class XI in the same school.
Students from other schools should be accommodated only if there are vacancies after admitting students from the same school. Prominent schools of the city are not only turning away their Class X passouts but also violating the RTE norms of admitting 25% underprivileged students. "The schools are violating the norms of RTE and have not admitted any student under its provision," said Rai.
