Daltonganj: As many as 300 trackers, who are deployed at the Palamu Tiger Reserve (PTR) and Mahudanr Wolf Sancturary, have not got their wages for more than six months.
Sources in the forest department said trackers deployed in the wolf sanctuary have not been received their monthly wages since April last year. On the other hands, trackers working in the north and south divisions of PTR are going without wages since October last year.
Sidhinath Jha, the president of Jharkhand Van Shramik Union, confirmed the development on Thursday. "It is becoming difficult for trackers to run their households,” he said.
Jha blamed the PTR management for the delay. "We also met the principal chief conservator of forest (wildlife) cum chief wildlife warden Ravi Ranjan to apprise him of our woes, but to no avail,” he said.
Kumar Ashish, deputy director of PTR (South), said they are facing funds issues as well as bottlenecks in digital payments. “Efforts are on to ensure their payments,” he said.
