Hazaribag police have taken decisive action against illegal liquor production, launching extensive operations across 53 locations that resulted in the destruction of 8,435 litres of mahua and the seizure of 80 litres of country liquor. Although 36 teams were deployed, arrests remain difficult.
Hazaribag: The police on Saturday said it destroyed 8,435 litres of mahua and seized 80 litres of country liquor in raids which were carried out across 53 locations of the district to late on Friday to curb production and sale of spurious liquor.As many as 36 teams, made up of 166 personnel, raided various locations but could arrest those involved in the production.A total of 14 general diary entries were registered in different police stations along with one formal FIR.“Such raids will be carried out in the future. We have also appealed to the public to inform the police about the units where spurious liquor is being produced,” SP Aman Kumar said.“Efforts are underway to identify those who had been operating these units,” a police official said.
