Operation Prahar 2.0 nets 30 criminals in Ranchi dist
Ranchi: A total of 30 criminals were arrested and 1,355 warrants executed during the second phase of the 'Operation Prahar’ across the district on Tuesday night, police said.
Acting on the instructions of Ranchi senior superintendent of police (SSP) Rakesh Ranjan, the Ranchi district police force, consisting of city, rural and traffic superintendent of polices (SPs) and deputy superintendent of polices (DSPs), targeted absconders, warrant defaulters and suspects involved in a range of criminal activities in simultaneous raids conducted across various police station limits.
“The raid was conducted to dispose of non-bailable warrants pending at all police stations across the district. Under ‘Operation Prahar,’ a special strategy was devised to curb crime, execute warrants and tighten the grip on organised crime. The operation is reactivated at regular intervals and carried out late into the night. In the second phase of Operation Prahar, multiple teams of Ranchi Police conducted raids across different police station areas, apprehending absconding criminals, warrant defaulters and suspects. Thirty accused who were evading arrest for a long time were caught during the drive,” Ranchi (city) SP Paras Ran said.
Meanwhile, the Ranchi district administration on Monday conducted a drive against individuals indulging in loitering, unnecessary gatherings and substance abuse.
“During the drive conducted from Lowadih to Durga Soren Chowk, several youths were found loitering and forming unnecessary gatherings along the roadside. They were questioned and warned against indulging in loitering and substance-related activities at public places. They were issued a stern warning and directed to refrain from such activities in the future,” Ranchi (sadar) sub-divisional officer (SDO) Kumar Rajat said.
On May 16, over 150 criminals were arrested and over 200 pending warrants executed as part of the first phase of Operation Prahar.Get the latest lifestyle updates on Times of India, along with Bakrid wishes, messages and eid 2026
