Two girls drown in Garhwa pond
Garhwa: Two girls drowned in a pond in Garhwa village on Tuesday whose bodies were fished out from the pond on Wednesday morning. The deceased were identified as Reshma Kumari (10), and Priyanshu Kumari (8), both residents of Patriha Kalan village under Banshidhar Nagar police station limits of Garhwa district, police said.Both the girls went to Bahwa hill to collect firewood on Tuesday but did not return home till late night. Locals fished out the bodies from the pond and informed the police. The police rushed to the spot and sent the bodies to Garhwa sadar hospital for post mortem examination.Upendra Kumar, the officer in-charge of Banshidhar Nagar police station said, “Prima facie it appeared that the girls died after drowning in the pond. An investigation has been launched into the matter”.In another incident, a decomposed body of a man belonging to particularly vulnerable tribal group (PVTG) was recovered from Kumba Kalan forest under Dhurki police station limits of Garhwa district in the morning. The deceased was identified as Sakal Korwa (65) a resident of Dhobni village.Villagers alleged that Korwa was missing since Saturday. The OC of Dhurki police station Janardan Raut said, “An investigation is underway to ascertain the reason behind Korwa’s death.”
