NPU urges relocation of trees to make way for Jharkhand governor

Nilamber Pitamber University has asked the Palamu district administration to relocate two trees obstructing Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar's proposed arrival route for the October 6 convocation. The Governor will preside over the ceremony, and the trees are located near the new library and administrative buildings. Forest officials have measured the trees for further action.

Daltonganj: The management of Nilamber Pitamber University (NPU) has asked Palamu district administration to relocate two trees ahead of its October 6 convocation. The trees, NPU officials said, come in the way of the proposed route for the arrival of Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar, who will preside over the ceremony.While one tree is at the entry of the road which leads to the new library building (Maharshi Vishwamitra Pustakalaya Bhavan), the other stands at the turn of a road which leads to the administrative building.“We have written to the officials of Medininagar forest division for uprooting and relocation of the trees. A team of foresters have measured the girth of the trees for further action,” Dinesh Kumar Singh, vice-chancellor of NPU, said. Palamu deputy commissioner Sameera S and SP Reeshma Ramesan on Saturday also visited the varsity campus to take stock of the preparations ahead of Gangwar’s visit.Gangwar is expected to arrive here in a helicopter, SP said.
