During the Singapore Grand Prix FP2 session, Charles Leclerc met with a pit lane accident with McLaren’s Lando Norris. The Scuderia Ferrari’s star recently opened up on what exactly led to the pit lane crash during a post race interview. The 27-year-old called out the management of Ferrari during second practice session (FP2) at the Singapore Grand Prix. Reportedly, Scuderia Ferrari was also fined 10,000 euros for the unsafe release of Charles Leclerc during the practice session.

The Singapore Grand Prix practice sessions did not turn out well for Scuderia Ferrari’s star driver Charles Leclerc. After meeting with an unfortunate crash with McLaren’s Lando Norris, the 27-year-old did not hold back from speaking what actually led to the mishap. According to him, teh timing of the two McLarens leaving the pit lane created a confusion. He said, “I’ve analysed it. My camera was on my face so I couldn’t see to double check with my mechanic and speaking with him it was a bit of confusion with the two McLarens going out. It looked like they were going out at the same time, so he thought they would go out slower, so I didn’t have a message to stop.”

Charles Leclerc even pointed out that in situations like this, the drivers blindly rely on their team’s guidance. A miscommunication between the driver and the team can even lead to dangerous consequences. He further explained, “It was also in a tricky moment because with all the red flags, everyone was in a rush to get out to do some laps.
It’s a combination of things. It’s not something you want but these things happen.”However, despite the team’s fault, Charles Leclerc maintained his composure and remained pragmatic. He even mentioned that situations like this are nothing but a part of the unpredictable nature of Formula 1, no matter how prepared a driver is. Incidents like this clearly point out the challenges of pit lane navigation and clear communication between the person inside the racing car and the team. Timing and coordination between the driver and his respective team plays a very important role.
