Ranchi: The opposition is now realising and accepting that the JMM-led alliance govt in the state is in the right direction with good intention and commitment, chief minister Hemant Soren has said, citing that not a single amendment notice has been made to the governor’s address to the assembly at the start of the ongoing budget session. He also criticised the Union govt, saying in Parliament, the leader of the opposition wasn’t allowed to speak.
The CM made a special mention of the deceased Kerala baby, Aalin Sherin Abraham, whose parents donated her organs and saved at least four lives. He said Aalin is immortal now with the noble act.
Addressing the session, Hemant also said Jharkhand would become one of the top developed states by 2050.
Replying to the debate on the governor’s address, Soren said the achievements of the govt aren’t merely on paper. “Unlike earlier times, works are now visible on the ground despite several challenges and hurdles because our intent is clear. The governor’s address aptly highlighted those,” he said, citing how even the Opposition, too, is realising this commitment.
“For the first time in 25 years of Jharkhand’s formation, not a single amendment notice to the governor’s address has come this time. This indicates that the opposition has nothing to say. Well, it is a different thing that they continue to raise allegations, but that is out of their political compulsions,” he said.
The CM also said his govt doesn’t believe in big talks as “our govt runs from the villages with the belief that only a developed village will lead to a developed state and a developed country at large.” He also said, “Today, many good works of the Jharkhand govt are replicated by other states.”
Criticising the absenteeism in the opposition benches that marked the second half of the session, Hemant said that it showed one’s commitment to discussions on the development of the state.
Hitting out at the BJP-led govt at the Centre, the CM said, “Due to poor and anti-people policies, most people are feeling the brunt, making lives difficult for the poor, downtrodden and farmers. Now, in the name of a trade deal, farm products will soon come from the US. This will completely destroy our own farmers and the farming sector here. But if anyone questions the Centre and its policies, they are branded as anti-national.”
He added, “But in Jharkhand, we have always worked towards maintaining democratic values and norms, which is why the opposition can even speak and criticise in the house. But in Parliament, see what’s happening. The leader of the opposition isn’t even allowed to speak. We are passing through critical times where hate is promoted.”
Making a special mention about the deceased Kerala baby, whose parents recently donated her organs, Hemant said that he was moved by the act, and his govt would soon work out proper rules and regulations to promote organ donation on a large scale.
Talking to reporters outside the house, he said, “This incident touched my heart, and I salute the 10-month-old and her parents. Even after death, she ensured the lives of others. We need to strengthen organ donation rules which can save many lives.”
