Minor gas leak reported at BSL plant, probe ordered

Bokaro: Gas leakage was reported in an acid regeneration plant at the Bokaro Steel Limited (BSL) on Thursday morning. However, the leakage was plugged swiftly by the energy management department (EMD), the PSU officials said. The BSL management said none of its workers were affected in the leak. The BSL management been launched into the incident.

“Around 11 am on Thursday, a minor gas leakage was reported from the drain port pipeline of the acid regeneration plant-3 at the Cold Rolling Mill (CRM)-3 of the plant. Responding promptly, the EMD team closed the drain port valve, and the situation was under control in half an hour,” Manikant Dhan, chief of communication of BSL, said.

Dhan said a detailed inspection at the site was conducted by the EMD and safety engineering department. "No worker was injured or affected,” he added.
