RANCHI:

Maoist guerillas

on Tuesday killed a nursing home owner in

Jharkhand's Seraikela-Kharsawa district

after he refused to deposit their extortion money in his business account in the bank to help convert it in white, police sources said.

The sources said the Maoists summoned Yogesh Mishra and later shot him dead and torched his vehicle at Kuchai, around 130 km from Ranchi.

Mishra refused to abide by their diktat by citing an example of a petrol pump owner who was arrested.

The police accused Mishra of being a sympathiser of the Maoists, and added two Maoist guerrillas accused of firing at a senior police officer were arrested from his nursing home.

Security agencies

in Jharkhand are on high alert and are keeping a close watch on Maoists who turn up to convert their unaccounted cash into legitimate money.

On November 10, petrol pump owner Nand Kishore from Bero on Ranchi's outskirts was arrested while he was carrying Rs 25 lakh to deposit in the bank. Suring questioning, Kishore allegedly admitted that the money belonged to the banned
