Make people sensitive towards kids: L'daga DC
LOHARDAGA: Deputy commissioner Ratan Kumar advised Bal Kalyan Samiti activists not only to teach child rights but make people sensitive towards children.
He was addressing an awareness camp, organized by Bal Kalyan Samiti, on 'childcare and protection', at the SS High School auditorium of Maoist-hit Kisko block on Sunday.
He said that there is no need of learning or teaching law on child rights, as people are all well aware of good and bad practices in the society, which has both good and bad people everywhere.

What we need to do is only to take a step forward.
"Mukhiyas in villages can play an active role in this regard. They should also pay attention to employment-generation programmes while selecting projects to their villages as migration has also been a related issue to childcare and protection. Most of the brick kilns in Uttar Pradesh are run by tribals of Lohardaga. When parents migrate to those brick kilns with children their educational development is stopped. If they don't migrate, children will avail education and other opportunities of government projects designed for their welfare. But this can be possible only after taking significant steps for generating employment and agricultural-friendly schemes like MGNREGA that can be utilized well," the DC said.
Child Helpline director N K Tah said the samiti had done a commendable job in short period of its formation in comparison to other districts and the DC has played a vital role in providing office and other requirements. "The samiti, formed by the government, has been vested with the power to solve problems of children in order to protect their rights," said Tah.
