Bokaro: Thousands of devotees thronged Hathia Pathar Dham in the Bermo subdivision on Wednesday to mark Makar Sankranti.
Binod Mahto, a resident, said, “As part of the rituals, devotees offer chadar, take holy dips in the river and pray for peace, prosperity and well-being.” DSP Bermo said that seeing the heavy footfall, the district administration made elaborate security and traffic arrangements. Police personnel were deployed across the temple and adjoining areas to ensure crowd management and smooth movement.
Meanwhile, the Malayali community in the district marked the festival with a vibrant display of faith and cultural tradition, as thousands of devotees converged on the Sree Ayyappa Temple in Sector 5 for the annual Makaravilakku celebrations.
Garhwa, on the other hand, witnessed thousands of tourists and picnickers thronging the Sukhaldari waterfall to celebrate the auspicious occasion. The district administration has put up elaborate security arrangements for safety of the tourists and picnickers. “A sufficient number of police force was deployed at the mega fair organised in the area and near the Sukhaldari waterfall to manage the crowd,” said Dhurki police station officer in-charge Janardan Raut.
