According to animal welfare volunteers, the incident came to light early on Jan 9 after a local dog feeder shared videos on a WhatsApp group. The feeder regularly cared for a litter of eight puppies in the area. While the body of one puppy was recovered, the remaining puppies are missing. The accused, who worked as a security guard at a restaurant in J P Nagar and stayed at his brother's rented accommodation, is reportedly absconding following the incident. Manjari Chaitanya, founder of South Bengaluru Cares, said: "This is not about a neonate puppy who was brutally murdered, it is about the case of a psychopath who is a threat to the society." Priyam Chhetri, another animal rights activist, demanded stern action against the accused.
