Jharkhand Youth Skills: Can UK Partnerships Bridge the Gap to Global Opportunities?
Ranchi: A state govt delegation, led by minister Sudivya Kumar, to the UK on Thursday participated in a round-table talks with UK’s eminent educational institutions to discuss strategies for imparting Jharkhand’s youth skills aligned to global standards, besides providing them with practical training and international opportunities.
“This dialogue strengthens the clear vision of connecting education with employment, skills with opportunities and local talent with global platforms. Under the guidance of Hemant Soren, this is an important and far-reaching initiative by the government in the direction of preparing youth power for the future,” the minister said.
The delegates presented the state not just as a geographical unit, but as a potential centre for global education and innovation.
They drew attention to the fact that in recent years, international universities’ activities have been mainly limited to western India, Delhi NCR, and south India, while eastern and central India still remain outside the map of international education investment.
Jharkhand, emphasising the need for balanced and inclusive internationalisation, called for making eastern India the prime destination for the next phase of global education partnerships, read a communique from the IPRD.
“The govt presented three major reform steps to strengthen quality and outcomes in higher education — establishment of State Faculty Development Academy, mandatory eight-week internship aligned with the National Education Policy-2020, and State Institutional Ranking Framework aligned with national benchmarking,” it added.
“The govt also highlighted that Jharkhand is performing better than the national average in terms of gender equality index in higher education. Around 65 per cent of students going to UK under foreign scholarship are women, reflecting the growing aspiration of the state’s young women for global education,” the statement further read.
Meanwhile, CM Hemant Soren-led delegation, too, reached London from Davos late Wednesday.
