Ranchi: Chief minister Raghubar Das on Monday nominated Bollywood actor Anupam Kher as chairperson of the technical advisory committee to promote Jharkhand's film industry. Information and public relations department director Awadhesh Kumar Pandey was named member secretary of the committee.

The panel will be required to promote the state's film industry, in addition to extending suggestions on films being made in the state. It will also help select films that showcase Jharkhand. The Jharkhand adopted a new film policy in a bid to generate employment in the film industry, while also providing opportunities to local talent in regional and national film industries.

The government communique issued by the CMO on Monday stated that keeping in mind these considerations, the eleven-member committee was formed. The committee will review proposals arriving in the state to make films on various subjects.

The other members of the committee include noted film maker Imtiaz Ali, music director Bulu Ghosh, chairman of the All-India Santhali Association Ramesh Hansda, folk artiste Mukund Nayak, filmmaker Rishi Prakash Mishra, former HoD of Ranchi University's Hindi department Dr Ratan Prakash, director of Karma Movies Company Mahesh Manjhi, noted writer Amitabh Ghosh, script writer and social serviceman Hari Mittal and theatre artiste Ajay Malkani.
