Ranchi: Booth-level officers (BLOs) would collect applications from new voters through door-to-door visits during the claims and objections filing period under the special intensive revision (SIR) of the electoral roll, Jharkhand chief electoral officer (CEO) K Ravi Kumar said on Thursday.
Kumar said, “The SIR process in the state would start on June 20. Preparations, training and necessary printing work would be carried out from June 20 to June 29. BLOs will go door-to-door from June 30 to July 29 to provide enumeration forms to voters and conduct verification.”
Special camps would also be held for voters who could not be contacted by BLOs. “No voter’s name will be removed from the electoral roll without a hearing. People should not pay attention to misleading information,” he said.
“Aadhaar card is a proof of identity but not a domicile or citizenship document. A person should provide documents listed by the EC along with Aadhaar card during SIR,” the CEO stressed.
