Ranchi: A delegation of assistant police personnel appointed in the extremist-hit areas of the state submitted a memorandum to state finance minister Radhakrishna Kishore on Monday to press for their extension of services as their one-year contract is schuled to end by August.
The delegation members, under the banner of Jharkhand Sahayak Police Pradesh Association (JSPPA), said the state govt had appointed 2,500 assistant police on contract basis in 2017. Their contract is renewed every year in the month of July and August.
JSPPA general secretary Vivekanand Gupta said, “The delegation requested the minister to ensure a timely service extension so that the assistant police may not be discharged from duty. In 2025, some police were removed for two months. We protested in Ranchi in 2019, 2020, and 2024 for extension of services.”
The JSPPA also discussed other demands, including regularisation of service, minimum wage at par with fourth grade employees, dearness allowance and increment.
The minister assured them that the govt would look into the issue to take an appropriate decision soon.
