Jamshedpur: Two persons died and eight sustained injuries in separate accidents, including one involving a train in East Singhbhum district of Kolhan region on Tuesday, police said.
In the first incident, a resident of Birsanagar in Jamshedpur was killed while his wife sustained injuries when their motorcycle rammed into a stationary truck from the rear on the Hata-Tata Road at Turi village.
The deceased was identified as Shyam Singh Munda (50). He, along with his wife, was on way to his native village in Chakradharpur of West Singhbhum district when the incident happened, police added.
Citing the wife’s statement, officer in-charge of the Potka police station, Sunny Topno, said, “The biker couldn’t spot the truck and rammed into it. The truck has been seized and the body seized to the MGMMCH for post-mortem examination.”
In another incident, an elderly man was run over by a train when he was attempting to cross railway tracks on the Tatanagar-Badampahar route at Nandup village to reach a field to attend to nature’s call.
“The death of Sidiu Soy (65) is being investigated,” Ajit Munda, the officer in-charge Sundernagar police station, said.
