Hazaribag Police Arrest 9 Drug Peddlers, Seize Brown Sugar in Barkagaon Operation

Hazaribag: Barkagaon police have arrested nine drug peddlers and seized brown sugar during a special operation on Sunday near Karbala on the Barkagaon–Bhagwan Bagi main road.Police said the raid was carried out under the supervision of Barkagaon sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Pawan Kumar as part of a district-wide drive against drug trafficking. Kumar said, “During the search, police recovered 67 sachets of brown sugar weighing around 13.6 grams. Seven phones were also seized.”Barkagaon police station officer in-charge Krishna Kumar Gupta said that the accused persons were roaming across villages in the Barkagaon area and selling brown sugar. “Following repeated inputs from residents, the SP constituted a special team to take action," he said.The arrested persons were identified as Mohammad Tanveer Alam alias Tano, Birju Vishwakarma, Sachin Kumar, Mohammad Awesh, Arjun Kumar, Varun Kumar, Balram Kumar, Rajendra Kumar and Mohammad Istiyaq alias Bablu, all residents of Barkagaon and nearby areas. However, two suspects managed to flee from the spot and are being searched for, police said.
