Hailstorm alert: Orange warning for several districts in state
Ranchi: The MeT department in Ranchi has issued an orange warning predicting hailstorms in various parts of the state from April 5 to the morning of April 7.
The orange warning has been issued for districts such as Garhwa, Palamu, Chatra, and Hazaribag. A yellow warning has been issued for the remaining districts.
“This is due to strong western disturbances. As a result, a low-pressure cyclonic circulation develops over the Mediterranean region and moves eastward towards Iran, Afghanistan, and then India. As the system progresses across India from Rajasthan, it gathers moisture from the Arabian Sea. Upon reaching Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, it further collects moisture from the Bay of Bengal and then moves eastward towards Jharkhand. Consequently, the plains are expected to receive rain and hailstorms accompanied by thunderstorms, while hilly areas may experience snowfall,” said Abhishek Anand, deputy scientist at the Ranchi MeT Office.
The MeT office on Friday reported that during the past 24 hours, trace rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms occurred at isolated places across the state. The highest maximum temperature of 39.4°C was recorded in Jamshedpur and Daltonganj, while the lowest minimum temperature was 18.5°C in Gumla.
In Ranchi, the maximum temperature was recorded at 35.8°C, while the minimum temperature stood at 21.6°C.
