Governor Gangwar urges unity, progressive outlook for state’s growth on R-Day
Ranchi: Jharkhand governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar, while unfurling the national flag and addressing a gathering at Ranchi’s Morhabadi ground on the occasion of the 77th Republic Day, called upon people to stay united and adopt a progressive mindset to overcome challenges hindering Jharkhand’s growth and to contribute collectively to the state’s development.
Gangwar inspected the parade by students and police contingents at the Republic Day celebration. A total of 12 colourful tableaux of various state departments enthralled the gathering present on the ground on Monday.
The governor, in his speech, highlighted various initiatives taken by the state govt in recent times for the benefit of students, women, farmers, tribals and in the tourism and industry sectors.
“Today, Jharkhand is progressing on a path of continuous development in every sector, including education, health, energy and industry sectors. Jharkhand, the mineral-rich state, is not only contributing to the social and economic development of the country, but also playing an important role in realising the dream of Viksit Bharat, 2047,” Gangwar added.
Referring to the recent state cabinet’s approval of the PESA rules, 2025, the governor said that the initiative will prove to be a milestone in safeguarding the identity of tribals in the state. “The state govt has also set an example in the field of women empowerment, providing Rs 2,500 monthly financial assistance to around 51 lakh women in the state under the Chief minister’s Maiya Samman Yojana,” Gangwar said.
He also spoke at length about various scholarship schemes such as ‘Guruji Student Credit Card Scheme’, ‘Valmiki Scholarship Yojana’ and ‘Manki Munda Scholarship Scheme’ introduced by the govt to provide financial assistance to students to pursue higher education.
On the other hand, chief minister Hemant Soren, who was on a trip to Davos in Switzerland and the United Kingdom to attend the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum, paid floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Parliament Square and Babasaheb Bheemrao Ambedkar in his residence in London. Soren reached Ranchi on Tuesday after the trip.
Extending his greetings on the occasion of Republic Day, Soren said that the Constitution of the country is not merely a book, but the voice of existence, rights, and dignity of the citizens.
“The Constitution is the strongest foundation for the exploited and deprived sections to live with dignity, to attain equality, equal opportunities, and justice. With justice, equality, equity, and brotherhood, we all together will take the 25-year-old Jharkhand to new heights of progress,” Soren said.
