RANCHI: Khunti police on Sunday arrested four members of

People Liberation Front of India

(PLFI) from Karo River, under Torpa police station, of the district and seized five arms from their possession. Acting on a tip-off, a team of district police officials along with para-military forces, carried out raids at suspected rebel hideouts and arrested the accused near Karo river. Police sources said the group was planning an attack in the district. Out of ten rebels, five of them managed to flee the area. Khunti SP Anish Gupta said the arrested naxals were identitfied as

, Manoj Gudiya and Susrijit Bodra, all residents of different villages. Police seized one country-made gun, ten cartridges, five cell phones among other items. Officials added raids are on to nab the remaining accused.

In another incident in the same district, A group of local criminals set ablaze four vehicles engaged in a road construction of 7 km between Murtha to Torpa, Nonpayment of levy is stated to be the main reason behind the incident.

According to police sources one pocklain machine, and four dumpers have been damaged in that incident. The road was being constructed by Chhatisgarh based contractor and had some dispute owing to levy.

Khunti SP visited the place of occurrence and assessed the situation. He said that prima facie it seems that the vehicles were not set ablaze by naxals, however police are probing into the matter from all angles.

On the other hand local sources said that criminals cannot set ablaze the vehicles of any construction company and involvement of naxals cannot be ruled out.

It may be mentioned here that frequent attacks of naxals on construction companies specially engaged under the several projects in state delaying in timely completion of work.
