Finger at husband for woman

HAZARIBAG: A 25-year old-woman, Renu Devi, wife of Umesh Prasad Kushwaha of Lundru village, was allegedly killed by her husband in collusion with her mother-in-law and thrown into a well, according to an FIR lodged by the victim's father, Hiro Mahato, with the Ichak police station.
It has been alleged in the FIR that the marriage of the victim was solemnized with Umesh as per Hindu custom with suitable dowry and gifts some six years ago.But the dowry and gifts given by the victim's father did not satisfy Umesh and his mother and they continued to demand more dowry which could not be fulfilled by Hiro due to which the victim was continuously tortured since she went to her in-laws' house." Hiro further reported that during this period, Renu had given birth to two children but continued to be tortured by her husband and the mother-in-law.
Ultimately, he got a message on Wednesday from Umesh's house that Renu committed suicide by jumping into the well and died. On getting information, Hiro reached the village and found that the police took out Renu's body and found that she had allegedly been strangled to death as blood was found oozing out from her mouth. They also found injury marks on her neck that convinced Hiro that his daughter had been murdered and thrown into the well and for diverting police investigation. Hiro, however, lodged an FIR and named both Umesh and his mother as the accused.
The body of the victim after postmortem was handed over to her relatives at Hazaribag Sadar Hospital.
