Easter Sunday Celebrations in Ranchi: Faith, Family, and Festive Joy
Ranchi: Early morning prayers by a large gathering of the faithful in churches marked the beginning of Easter Sunday, reflecting a day filled with faith, celebration and togetherness.
“Easter is the foundation of Christian faith, symbolising hope, renewal and victory of life over death. It is also a time when families come together in love and gratitude,” said Father David Fernandes, a priest at St Mary’s Cathedral.
As the morning prayers concluded, the celebrations shifted to homes and neighbourhoods. Families hosted gatherings, shared festive meals and exchanged sweets, turning the day into a social occasion. Children added to the cheer with games, Easter egg hunts and laughter.
“Easter marks the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, reminding us that hope always rises even after the darkest moments. It teaches faith, forgiveness and new beginnings. Celebrating it with family makes it more meaningful, as we not only rejoice in the miracle but also strengthen bonds of love and togetherness,” said Anita Ekka, a Morabadi resident.
Restaurants and cafes across the city embraced the festive mood, offering special Easter menus, themed desserts and discounts, drawing crowds of youngsters and families. “We wanted to create a space where people could celebrate beyond homes,” said Rahul Mehta, a cafe owner at Purulia Road.
Blending prayers with celebrations, Easter Sunday brought out a colourful mix of faith, family bonding and community joy.
