The grand event, costing approximately Rs 20 lakh, will feature a four-day fair with cultural programs and amusement rides, promoting environmental awareness and community spirit.

Dhanbad: TheShyam puja committee in Hirapur, Dhanbad, is all set to celebrate its grand 46th year Kali Puja based on the theme “Prakriti Ki Rachna” (Creation of Nature), highlighting the importance of environmental preservation through an entirely eco-friendly setup.The pandal is being decorated using natural and biodegradable materials such as date palm bark and leaves, coconut shells, bael fruit, bamboo sticks, jute mats, tree branches, amla seeds, banana bark, and other organic items. The estimated cost of the pandal construction is around Rs 12 lakh, while the total expenditure for the entire celebration is expected to be approximately Rs 20 lakh.Kali Puja will be observed on October 20 this year, with the Nishith Kaal (midnight ritual) scheduled from 11:55 pm to 12:44 am on October 21. Elaborate arrangements are being made for decorative lighting and comprehensive security to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for devotees.Alongside the puja, a four-day fair will be held at the Jharnapada ground from October 20 to 23, featuring cultural programmes, amusement rides, and stalls exhibiting local products. The fair aims to combine devotion, entertainment, and community spirit.Committee member Vikas Kumar Chaudhary said like every year, a large number of devotees are expected to attend. He added that the event not only represents deep religious faith but also serves as an inspiring initiative promoting environmental awareness and the preservation of traditional art and craftsmanship.
