Dhanbad Local Body Polls: Security Tightened, Voting on Feb 23, Counting Feb 27
Dhanbad: The district administration has made robust preparations so that the urban local body polls can be held in a peaceful, transparent, and fair manner.
Deputy development commissioner (DDC) Sunny Raj said that comprehensive arrangements have been put in place, with tight security measures from strong rooms to polling stations.
Raj on Wednesday said that 13 dedicated election cells have been constituted, and nodal officers along with supporting staff have been appointed.
“Separate rooms have been identified at the collectorate for the nomination process of mayor, chairperson, and ward councillor candidates. The counting of votes will be held at the Government Polytechnic on Feb 27,” he said.
Polling will take place on Feb 23. “A total of 8,97,936 voters will exercise their franchise in 55 wards of the Dhanbad Municipal Corporation, while 37,006 voters will cast their votes in 21 wards of the Chirkunda Municipal Council,” he further said.
The DDC said Dhanbad Municipal Corporation has 4,71,279 male voters, 4,26,624 female voters, and 33 third-gender voters. In Chirkunda Municipal Council, there are 18,639 male and 18,367 female voters.

The DDC said that the model code of conduct has come into force with immediate effect, and strict action will be taken against any violation as per Election Commission guidelines. The NOTA option will not be available in this election.
