Dhanbad Firing: Two Arrested in Coal Trade Dispute
Dhanbad: Two persons have been arrested within hours of a firing incident that took place under the Barora police station area, police said on Sunday.
On Saturday morning, nearly eight bike-borne assailants indiscriminately fired at Ravindra Chauhan, a resident of Barora, near Mathabandh Ground on the Barora-Dumra main road.
Chauhan sustained injuries in the attack and was immediately rushed to a hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment.
Following the incident, the victim lodged an FIR at Barora police station, naming Gaurav Chauhan, Anish Chauhan, Pawan Yadav, Vishal Chauhan and Neeraj alias Motka, along with three unidentified persons, as accused in the case.
Addressing a press meet on Sunday, Rural SP S Mohammad Yaqoob said that the police acted swiftly and conducted raids, leading to the arrest of two named accused — Vishal and Anish. He further revealed that the arrested individuals have prior criminal records, with cases already registered against them at Barora police station.
According to police, both the victim and the accused are involved in illegal coal trade. Ravindra had allegedly orchestrated an attack during Holi over business dispute, prompting the accused to retaliate now.
The police intensified efforts to nab the remaining accused, who are currently absconding. Raids are being conducted at multiple locations, and further investigation into the case is underway.
