Defunct water taps on Rims campus to be repaired soon
Ranchi: Rims on Thursday announced that it would repair all defunct water filters on the hospital premises.
An official communiqué from Rims on Thursday said that a company, Minu Marketing Private Limited, in coordination with the institute administration, has agreed to provide support for technical survey, restoration and maintenance of drinking water units installed on the campus under its CSR initiative.
Notably, TOI on Wednesday highlighted the issue of defunct water taps at Rims creating inconvenience for patients, attendants and staff visiting the hospital for months, disrupting access to safe drinking water.
“Under this public interest effort, Rims medical superintendent has granted approval to the proposal from the company. A preliminary survey and technical inspection of drinking water units installed at various locations within the institute campus was carried out. The inspection found 10 drinking water units that can be made operational again through repair, servicing, reconditioning and replacement of minor technical parts,” the communiqué added.
The institute administration stated that in the future, a detailed technical examination of other non-functional units will also be carried out and a further action plan will be prepared as per requirement. Every day around 2,500-3,000 patients visit outpatient departments (OPD) at Rims from various parts of Jharkhand and neighbouring states.
Rims public relations officer Dr Shishir on Tuesday said that water filters installed at the hospital were damaged by some anti-social elements. “The administration has started the process to repair the drinking taps, after that we hope the problem will be resolved. More than 25 filters are being repaired,” he added.
