Marriage beyond ‘barriers’

A wedding in Hazaribag has drawn praise from several sections of society for its message of compassion. Pooja Kumari, 23, visually impaired since childhood, married Rajesh Kumar, 26, of Bokaro in a modest ceremony at a temple on Monday. Rajesh’s acceptance of Pooja, emphasising trust and respect beyond physical ability, was lauded by locals as a humane decision. The marriage was facilitated by community members, with support also ensuring financial stability and a job opportunity for Rajesh, marking a new beginning for the couple.

Min pledges eye donation

Union minister of state for defence and Ranchi MP Sanjay Seth on Sunday pledged to donate his eyes and urged people to actively participate in the noble cause. Speaking at the eye and organ donation-cum-eye check-up camp organised by the Akhil Bharatiya Kayastha Mahasabha, its social welfare (women) and arts wing president Smita expressed gratitude for the minister’s gesture, calling it motivating and impactful for society. She said such actions encourage wider participation in eye and organ donation.

Reunion meet

The annual reunion ceremony of the Jharkhand chapter of IIMC Alumni Association was held on Saturday in Ranchi. The ‘Connections Meet’ began in Delhi on Feb 28, and since then, chapter-level events have been organised every weekend in different states. Former IIMC students from various districts of Jharkhand participated. During the programme, SAIL officer Manoj Kumar and journalist Anand Dutta, who played a key role in foundation of the Jharkhand chapter, were honoured with the ‘Pillar of IMCA’ award. Jharkhand chapter president Kishore Kaushal said that they have been active in social work, and such activities will be expanded further in the coming days. He added that programmes bringing together members and their families are also part of the chapter’s plans.
