Chatra: Police on Wednesday announced a reward of Rs 20,000 for any information about a 14-year-old girl, Munni Kumari, who had gone missing from a pictic at Gangpur village under the Gidhaur police station limits on December 28.
Acting on the directions of SP Sumit Agrawal, a special investigation team (SIT) has been formed to trace and rescue the minor. Posters containing a picture and information about the missing girl were circulated on social media and put up across the district.
The SIT is led by Simaria SDPO Shubham Khandelwal and includes DSP Washim Razza and inspector Sanoj Choudhary. Police personnel are conducting search operations in and around Gangpur, especially dense forests and hilly terrain. Personnel are undertaking foot patrols in remote and inaccessible areas, while locals are being questioned. Technical inputs are also being used as part of the investigation.
SDPO Khandelwal said, “All possible angles are being examined.”
Meanwhile, Chatra police is on high alert in cases concerning missing children. One three-year-old Mahira Kumari was found wandering near old petrol pump in town on Tuesday. Alerted by passers-by, sub-inspector Rahul Kumar reached the spot and took the child into protective custody. The police traced the child’s Azad Mohalla residence and escorted her home.
