Dimapur: Nagaland CM
Neiphiu Rio on Wednesday highlighted the state’s history, struggles, economy, social issues, and the special constitutional provisions that safeguard its land and resources, while interacting with a visiting media team from Gujarat at his residential complex in Kohima.
Rio elaborated on the challenges of attracting investors and the absence of large-scale industries in Nagaland, noting that Article 371(A) of the Constitution ensures that the state’s land and resources belong to its people.
“Outsiders are not allowed to own land in Nagaland except on a lease basis for a limited period, for investment or establishment,” he explained.
A delegation of 15 media persons from Gujarat, accompanied by two PIB officials, is on a four-day visit to Nagaland from Jan 19 to learn about the state’s development initiatives and rich cultural heritage.
