Hazaribag: Around 12 passengers of a bus were injured when the vehicle met with an accident on NH-33 near the UP More at Charhi Ghat section, around 15km from the district headquarters here. The bus was travelling from Siwan in North Bihar to Ranchi. Police said six passengers, including a woman and a 15-year-old girl, sustained serious injuries. They were initially taken to Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College and Hospital. Subsequently, the woman and the young girl were transferred to Rims in Ranchi due to their critical condition. Charhi police station officer in charge Gautam Kumar said an investigation is ongoing but, the preliminary reports suggested that the bus lost control at a sharp turn near the UP More due to poor visibility caused by dense fog, making it fall into a nearby ditch.
Dr A K Tirkey, the medical superintendent of Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College and Hospital, confirmed that the seriously injured were referred to Rims for advanced care, while the other patients, who were responding well to treatment, are under the hospital's care.
Hazaribag SP Arvind Kumar Singh visited the accident site and confirmed that six passengers were in critical condition. "We are monitoring the situation closely as several injured were moved to Rims in Ranchi. The accident was due to poor visibility caused by foggy conditions," he said.
