Bokaro residents throng to temples, dams on New Year

Bokaro: On the first day of 2026, residents of Bokaro began the year with prayers and sightseeing, seeking blessings and enjoying the city’s attractions. Despite the chilly morning, families and devotees arrived early at local temples, while several others visited popular recreational spots to celebrate the day.

Prominent temples such as the Jagannath Temple in Sector-4, Ram Temple in Sector-1, and Sree Ayyappa Temple in Sector-5 saw large gatherings. At the Jagannath Temple, devotees formed long queues, praying for the health and well-being of their families. “I came with my family to pray for the health and happiness of my loved ones in the New Year,” said a devotee.

The Ram Temple and Sree Ayyappa Temple also witnessed heavy footfall. Rajesh Kumar, visiting the Ram Temple, said, “Starting the New Year with prayers gives me peace of mind. I hope the Lord’s blessings bring success and happiness to my family.”

Garga Dam, Barwaghat and Tenughat Dam attracted large gatherings of youngsters who set up music systems and danced throughout the day. “The first day of the year comes with happiness. We have come to enjoy, forget the past, and move forward with positivity,” said Ranjit Kumar, a local businessman.
